There’s a Twipsy for That

As Twipsy, our beloved spark of energy, was nominated as the official mascot of the World’s Fair in Hannover, Germany (Expo 2000), it was important to have him adoptable by guests in a range of souvenirs – from collectable pins to huggable fuzzy plush toys. As anyone may have guessed – due to mixed reactions with having him for a mascot, as well as unusually low guest numbers (18 million, compared to 40 million in Seville, 1992) and souvenir prices expensive by attendant standards (18 Deutsche Marks… €9.20 for the average plush) – you can see that he didn’t sell much early in the Expo.

Where the general public shrugged him off, there are a few collectors present, and elsewhere there’s an eBay entry helping find a collectable find a good home. Here is a list of photographic evidence of just a few things sold at the Expo… some are cute, some are interesting…

…unfortunately as much as I want to start a collection, none of them are mine 😦 and hence I give credit through the links to their respective articles.
